My dad was having life-threatening symptoms and had been rushed from our home to the ER one morning. Kathy was our nurse in IMC for two days. She was calming, personal and had a great sense of humor. She helped my dad feel comfortable in a time of severe fear, she helped us to lighten the mood and answered any and all questions we had throughout the days (and we were needy and nosey). She opened up about part of her life to relate to us (especially my dad). At the end of these two days, she hugged each one of us and before leaving, bent down and kissed my dad's cheek. That meant the world to us to know he was in such good hands and in that short amount of time, I felt like she was family! We needed her to get through those days.
