Sandra goes above and beyond for patients. She personally visits with all her patients and their families prior to surgery. Sandra allays fears and educates them to the surgical process. After delivering her patient to the Recovery Room, she often goes back out to speak with the family and often accompanies them to the patient's room while assisting them with belongings. Whenever possible she rounds the next day on her patients.
Conscientious is an understatement describing Sandra. She maintains her orthro inventory impeccably, never leaves her service line until cases are assigned and needs met, and many days stays until the schedule is finished. While tough, she serves as a tremendous coach and mentor to new employees.
It's safe to say that Sandra is an asset to her surgeons. She always has their best interest at heart and manages their cases very effectively. They could not work well without her.
Sandra voluntarily develops the monthly call schedule. This is a difficult task. Through this process she is fair and equitable with all. Many times, Sandra will cover call for some of the younger moms in the OR that need to be somewhere special.
Last but not least, Sandra often has good suggestions that help our leadership team manage more effectively. This is "Team and Leadership" at its best.
