I have been honored to witness the care that Kristin provides as the palliative care nurse. She is clearly very warm and engaging in her role. She is well-known by her colleagues, MDs. RNs, Chaplains, LCSWs, Case Managers, and others. And her ability to build relationships of care and trust is key to her work as an RN. Kristen is also very willing to wade into emotionally challenging situations with patients and families and staff when emotions are high, and she does so with an abiding commitment to serve patients and their loved ones during some of life's most challenging moments when medical care is best administered with human kindness.
I have also seen Kristin inhabit her role as an RN fully by doing everything she knows to do to help the vulnerable she is serving. She is a caring advocate for those with special needs and she calls her colleagues to do what they can as well as to help those in needs. She has taken the lead in many situations, to help include families and patients in their care plans by attending and facilitating family meetings. And, she has been a strong advocate for helping people complete and uses Ads and POLSTs to ensure their wishes are honored.
