As you know there was an issue with the PALs certification course scheduled for the staff and some staff were turned away. These staff were in jeopardy of not maintaining their certification, through no fault of their own. Without this certification these staff members would have been taken off of the schedule, making it harder for the remaining staff and for any patients coming to those departments. After I was made aware of this situation I reached out to Donna to see if she would be able and willing to facilitate a class for our staff so they could maintain their certification.
I didn't have to ask Donna twice. Donna had been there during the initial class so she was aware of the situation. She was more than willing to come in on her day off to help make sure our staff maintained their certification. Donna's willingness to work with me and our staff was way above and beyond the expectation. Donna had not yet taught a PALs class on her own, although she had taught several with other instructors. Donna was very professional while organizing the course and making sure she was prepared to teach the class. I know these staff members will have a quality certification experience. This has improved staff satisfaction and ultimately they will provide excellent patient care for our patients.
