Sherry Lineberger is a nurse's nurse; she is the leader who manages with grace and humility; she is the partner who watches the staff's backs and ensures safe practice and that resources get where they are needed. She is the calm in the storm, the expert when no one else is here and the quiet voice of reason in crisis. She has a humility that helps others step forward and a sense of humor that takes the tension away. She is knowledgeable about policies and procedures but is also able to improvise when there are no rules to follow. She sees things in terms of the possibility and is never out of ideas. We wanted to nominate her for this award because of the constant support she provides to nursing and to the whole hospital. She is able to assist the novice nurse by helping them use critically thinking and finding their own answers. She is able to be fair in allocating resources as well as being open to seeing new or different ways to do things. She is an expert clinician who puts the patient first, has compassion for the very real issues that happen in hospitals and always makes others feel welcome and supported. We believe she is one of those people who make things better because of who she is and how she raises others up. Her phone can be ringing off the hook but you feel that she is only there for you when she answers your call! She is the epitome of the DAISY Award!
