I had an appendectomy. The appendix had ruptured, and part of my bowels had to be removed. The surgeon installed an ileostomy bag. After surgery, I had a lot of pain. I needed a lot of pain meds, and Beth made sure that I got what I needed. She gave me all the care that I needed, and was very professional. She also helped take off the surgical tape that was over my wound. It was quite painful, but she did her best to make it as pain-free as possible by showing compassion. Beth helped the wound nurse change my ileostomy bag. She did a fabulous job by adjusting my bag so it wouldn't stick to my wound. Later I had to be readmitted due to pancreatitis. Again, Beth was my nurse. My veins were sore from being in the hospital. Beth started a new IV in my arm with a minimum of pain. Some of the lab technicians had a difficult time finding a vein, but Beth did it without a problem. I believe Beth deserves this award for the professional skill and compassionate care given during my hospital stay.
