Our daughter sustained a TBI, fractured skull, and fractured elbow last evening. My husband and I are from Minnesota. We both flew to N as soon as we could book flights to Colorado. N's first night was in the ICU and nursing staff was superb! The next area we followed her to was the Trauma Surgical Unit. Again, nursing care was superb! I work at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and I know the stress that nurses face each day. Nurses work hard to put the patient's needs first. Nurses are vital to patient care; we need nurses! Jill has been N's nurse for the last two days. I cannot praise Jill enough for the care she has provided to N, N's dad, and me.
Yesterday was a horribly painful day for my daughter. Jill wrote down the different pain medications on the whiteboard and was able to pinpoint the correct pain meds that finally gave N enough relief to stop her thrashing, crying, etc. We so desperately wanted an MRI of the lower back performed. Jill was observing N's excruciating back and head pain and advocated for us. Neurology was brought in and the MRI was done. We had answers. I truly believe if it had not been for Jill's incredible insight for our needs, we would not be looking at rehab centers tomorrow.
Jill is outstanding. Jill is professional. Jill listens. Jill cares. Jill is quick but very careful. Jill is respectful. Jill is what nursing is all about! UCHealth is fortunate to have Jill! Thank you Jill for everything you did for us - you are a blessing!
