Frankie is a rock star nurse every day, and I'd like to acknowledge her efforts on this specific day.
From the beginning of the shift, my assignment looked fine, with the exception of a late discharge that was against our best practices. Tracking down multiple providers for assistance proved to be time-consuming. All the while the patient and his spouse were very upset. Their level of anger and frustration was enough to rattle my years of experience. Had this been my only patient, I wouldn't have felt so stressed out. As it was, I had other patients that equally deserved and needed my time.
While I was unable to be with them, Frankie jumped right in and handled cares/needs for two of my patients. She did this calmly and effortlessly, all while managing her own patients. At a moment when I felt on the verge of crying, her genuine kindness and support gave me the strength to persevere. She took superior care of my patients and of me. I am so grateful and appreciative of Frankie's kindness and support. Her selfless gifts are exactly why I love working here. Thank you, Frankie, for being the very best of humankind.
