My husband was recently in ICU for three weeks on ECMO and several other machines due to pneumonia and both types of flu. One of the nurses he had several times was Zac. Above and beyond the duties that nurses must perform, Zac took time each day to speak with our family, update us on his night, share with us the recent x-rays, and listen. He overheard me one day mention that my husband's parents were coming to see him and they were going to freak out when they saw his tattoos. Until that time, my husband had just a towel over him due to the fluctuations in his body temperature. When I came in the next day, my husband was in a gown. When I mentioned that, Zac said that he heard me the day before talking about his parents and had essentially gotten my husband ready for them. It may seem like a small thing but it was really heartwarming to have someone pay attention to the dumbest thing we were concerned about and take action. He was amazing and we wanted someone to know that!
