Amber is an excellent ICU nurse. She routinely goes the "extra mile" to care for her patients and assist her co-workers. She has recently started to work as relief charge nurse, and has proven to be a natural leader. She helps out when needed, and is the "go to" person on the unit. Amber is an excellent mentor, ensuring that her mentee's come off orientation with the skills and knowledge needed to care for the patients in the ICU setting.

Recently we had a patient who was very sick, intubated and on several drips, CRRT, Oscillator ventilator, etc. They were from out of town and the wife would not leave his side. Amber cared for this patient with compassion and took the wife under her wing to help her understand everything she could. I received praise each day that I rounded on how Amber took care of her patient and how she made sure that the wife was taking care of herself. Amber even went on her own to get food and gas cards for the wife to help offset the expense of traveling from out of town. We had the patient on our unit for over a month. Amber touched this wife and made a positive impact on her. Even though the patient did not survive his illness, the wife commended Amber for everything she did for her.
