Lucy treated me with so much respect, compassion, equality, and like a friend.
Being a transgender woman (M+F) it is very hard obtaining and receiving proper respect and even pronouns. Before legal name changes, it's even common to be "dead-named." While legally my name has been changed, Lucy never used wrong pronouns at any time. Furthering this, she took the time in unique ways to ensure my comfort.
For instance, Lucy printed out medication information so I could be educated on medication interactions with my hormones as well as researched and found a medication commonly used off label for anxiety. This was a big deal to me as I did not want a habit-forming or addictive medication while not being an antihistamine. Furthering, she helped me discover and find healthy coping skills she didn't realize, like journaling and coloring. She didn't recommend these as coping skills but instead just being herself and doing her job, she helped me find them.
Because Lucy was willing to go above and beyond on these and so much more with many other patients too, I was able to be properly diagnosed, treated, and discharged with the best I've ever felt.
