Kara routinely volunteers for the patients that require the most care. For example, patients with new tube feeding, tracheostomy or complicated wound care, those that require a great deal of care, education and compassion.

When a complicated tracheostomy patient needed unusual supplies, she ordered the supplies from a Home Medical supplier, picked up the supplies and delivered them to the patient on a Saturday morning.

Kara shares her knowledge with other home care staff. She has a great deal of experience in wound and ostomy care and will meet with new staff at the patient's home to consult with difficult cases.

One of the patient's on Home Care lives outside of our usual service area. Kara goes above and beyond to be certain that this patient and family have what they need to be safe and able to stay in the home.

Kara always has a cheerful smile, makes people around her happy, has been known to fill a patient's med box at the local fishing hole thus keeping the patient out of the hospital for 8-9 months, high performer, compassionate and dedicated to home care. She is an outstanding role model for home care nurses.
