Melissa is always willing to go above and beyond for the patients, staff, and coworkers. She is an extremely caring and compassionate person. We have had 2 long term very challenging patients and Melissa has once again gone above and beyond to make their stay more comfortable and less anxiety-provoking. Melissa has brought in stuffed animals for them to hold. She has bought nail polish for our female patient and cards for our male patient. She played Alan Jackson's Chattahoochee from their cell phone as the patient sang along to help calm him during an outburst.
When the weather was nice she arranged it so he could go outside for some fresh air. She accompanied him to the courtyard then took him to the café for a snack and a drink. Melissa also purchased a plastic bowling set because the patient had been talking about wanting to go bowling. She set it up on the sun porch and bowled with him. Through her caring and thoughtfulness, she eased the anxiety for these patients. Melissa is an extraordinary nurse and BFMC is lucky to have her.
