I moved to California about 14 weeks ago and just got admitted. I was scared and I didn't want to stay - I wanted to leave. Ofelia said she understood my emotions and she would call the doctors so that we could talk, and I agreed to stay until at least they came to the floor. While we waited we talked about my feelings and she asked what she could do for me.
Soon the physicians were there, and we were able to settle our differences so I would stay. Ofelia has a gentle, calming, and caring personality. Her intuition is good, and she recognizes when things are going badly. I'm not proud of myself or my actions when I am angry or hurt, but my nurse was kind, caring, and concerned and took care of me. I'm sure her quiet and gentle nature gets overlooked, but she is so special.
We spoke about Asian culture, Asia, and spoke a little Japanese to each other. I never heard how busy she was, how many patients she had, or that she was tired. She always showed up with a smile and a gentle touch. Ofelia is an asset, and any employer would be lucky to have her. I never write things, but I had to write in about Ofelia. She hasn't become jaded and she still loves her job and her patients and says, "What can I do for you today?"
I've been in-and-out of hospitals for 20 years, and nurses like Ofelia are hard to find. I'm so thankful and grateful for her!
