If I didn't know better I would think Thao was telepathic. She was everything we needed her to be at the exact moment we needed it. She was a Nurse, a caregiver, an encourager, a teacher and a supporter. She tended to my daughter with the utmost of care, tenderness and precision. She always informed me of what was planned for the shift. She would repeat herself to make sure that I understood what to expect and when I could expect to see her. She always came back when she said she would to do what she said she would do. I didn't have to page her to see when she was coming in. When I was worried that I was hovering over my daughter after her g-button surgery, she told me that if she had a hole in her belly she would want her mom too. Instant relief to hear that! She taught me with each shift how to take care of my daughter. She didn't throw all of it at me at once. She did it gradually and made sure I was comfortable. When my daughter got upset after family went home from visiting with her, she picked up on it and knew that my daughter was just sad. She didn't jump to fix it but she didn't ignore it. She did just right anytime I had concerns she listened and heard me. I never felt like I was being ignored. I felt like she included my opinion in my daughter's care. She repeatedly told me that I was doing a good job and that I was being a good mom. Stuff you need to hear during tough times. She is a great example of what a Nurse should be!
