My mother was admitted to Mission Hospital for pneumonia and unfortunately was not able to recover before passing on. We had the pleasure of Kristen being the RN assigned to her room in the final days of her stay. Kristen was the most caring and attentive health care professional I have ever witnessed to attend to a family member. She was extremely cognizant of Mom's needs and made sure that she was comfortable in spite of her declining health. In addition, she was responsible to make sure that we had the proper engagement with the health care professionals and also to manage our family's time with Mom in her final days.
There were other employees assisting in mom's care, but Kristen clearly stood out in our most challenging time of need. I cannot imagine that there could be any other employee more worthy of DAISY recognition for their attributes. In Mom's final hours, Kristen was there to make sure she was comfortable while, I'm sure, knowing it would not be long before she passed. Our entire family was glad that she was the RN on duty in Mom's final hours. Her professional and heartfelt care helped us manage the most challenging family event we have ever had to endure.

Kristen Haun is the most compassionate and capable nurse we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She took care of my Mom during her illness. We were especially thankful she attended Mom during her final hours. Kristen treated her with such dignity and tenderness, and showed compassion and patience with each family member standing by.
There were many of us there, loving Mom so deeply and reeling at the unexpected sudden illness we realized was going to take her home to heaven. Kristen made sure we understood what was going on, provided access to all the other health care providers we needed to enable us to make informed decisions on how to best proceed to honor Mom's and Dad's wishes. She steadfastly monitored Mom's progress and provided every form of comfort possible, while being tender and compassionate in the most professional way.

Kristen deserves the Daisy Award for her outstanding commitment to patients, her incredible attention to detail, and her exceptional understanding, interaction and cooperation with the doctors and other health care providers to provide superior care.
