I wish to share the extraordinary care I received from one of your nurses, Jamee McCarthy. I don't want what I am going to share about her to take away from the great team you have there. From the time of admission to the day I went home, the respect that each of you has for one another really stood out. The hospital is great and Jamee is special. She was amazing in every way.
After my scheduled surgery, something happened to my heart (atrial fib). The charge RN from 5 North came over to 4 South and helped look at me. I had to be transferred to the cardiac unit. I had Jamee as my nurse for the next three days.
Jamee just has a special something about her. She held my hand, listened, and seemed to know just how afraid I was and my family were. She answered every question I had (and I had a lot) with a smile and calmness. If she did not know the answer, she was not afraid to say so, along with "let me ask the charge nurse." If she said she would be back to follow up, she did just that. Her calmness and ability to listen to me even when I was not so pleasant and writhing in pain were extraordinary. She vowed to call the doctor and get my pain meds changed, and she did that. I could not have done it without her. Just her presence put my heart and mind at rest. She is clearly a nurse who is meant to be a nurse, and it shows in her very being. I feel so blessed to have been in her care.
