Linda is known as a fierce patient advocate. She is knowledgeable and very well respected by her patients, peers and physicians. She has mentored and trained so many new, excellent nurses that fill the halls of Parkland today. Since transitioning from the inpatient setting to the outpatient setting she continues to provide exceptional care.
Linda took it on herself to increase her knowledge on cancer staging after coming to the clinic and working with patients who receive a new diagnosis and ask questions about their condition. She knows many patients by name when they come back for follow up. She assists them when they need supplies. She understands when there is a need for exceptions to rules because everything does not fit in a box. She will accommodate her patients' lateness because she understands how hard it is for some of these patients to make their appointments.
Linda has one homeless patient in particular that she collects food for and gives to him every time he comes to the clinic. She doesn't know when he is coming but she starts collecting items to give him and she is always so relieved to see him. Despite life's challenges her level of commitment to the clinic and passion for her patients' well being is undeterred. She is a very well trained nurse and I would pick her for my team any day of the week.
