Sandy was providing home nursing care to a patient with Leukemia as he declined she transferred him to hospice care in which she was no longer his nurse. The patient ended up passing away while on hospice care. I went to the funeral home to pay respects for HomeCare as I usually do, while I was there the wife of the patient said to me
"Sandy is an Angel, I want to tell you what she did for us. One night around 9:30pm we heard a knock on our door, we could not imagine who it could be as for the family and the hospice nurse were already here. It was Sandy she said she just couldn't get my husband off her mind so she decided to drive over. She stayed for hours that night comforting us while my husband peacefully died. I know she did not get paid for this, she did this as an act of kindness which we will be ever thankful for."
Then she showed me a beautiful basket full of fresh flowers and gardening tools that Sandy sent to the family, the wife said that she and her husband really enjoyed their flowers. Sandy not only provided them with excellent nursing care and support but she took the time to know what interest this couple shared then she gave back. Sandy consistently impresses me not only as a nurse but as an awesome person.
