Today I took my autistic son, K, into Day Surgery for the removal of a lesion on his big toe. K is a very high energy child who struggles with anyone outside his daily life having any physical contact with him. Trisha Tompkins went above and beyond to make my son feel comfortable with everything that happened to him today. I've never met an RN who took such great care in meeting his needs before and after surgery. She not only took care of him, but she also kept me very informed on what was going to happen, how it would happen and how it would affect my son.
Trisha took time to work on him, getting his temperature and blood pressure; she played with him and really brought herself to his level to show him there was no reason to fear. All of this may seem very small to someone else but for us, it was extremely meaningful. K has never had to have something of this magnitude done and we were beyond blessed to have the staff at TAMC and especially her to help us through this. I want to thank her for all her patience, tricks, tips, and knowledge on this day. She will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.
