I met Gayle when she was assigned to care for my twin baby girls at the NICU. After a couple of weeks in the NICU, I was at the end of the rope losing hope and feeling depressed. All of the nurses were nice and welcoming but inside of me, I felt scared/sad that my babies would not recognize me as their mother and that they would think that I was just another nurse.
The day that I met Gayle she informed me that my baby needed a bath and she encouraged me to give her the bath. She brought in a heat lamp, a tub, water - everything I needed. Gayle took the time to walk me through the process of giving my premature baby a bath and she even offered to take a picture!
This is a small sample of the many times that Gayle took the time to teach me how to care for my babies; she gave me such valuable information preparing me for the time when I got to take my girls home. She showed me how to fasten my daughters in the car seat, how to feed them, how to put them to sleep, etc. Even though the examples that I'm mentioning might seem small, they meant the world to me because when you have 2 babies in the NICU, believe me, everything is like a blur. But thanks
