Amanda IS awesome! She lifts up the spirit on the unit, she's very candid and funny but extremely compassionate. I wish we could duplicate her. We had a patient who was not doing well, in fact, we feared she was going to pass before her family could take her home with hospice. Amanda came and told me she found some Amish hymns online to play for the patient and she was going to stay in the room for the rest of the afternoon to be with her in case she passed, she didn't want her to be alone. What a great nurse! She deserves recognition as do all the nurses that have been working on 6NE, CCC, and ED. It takes a toll physically and emotionally and who knows what is yet to come. Per the recent news article, "One nurse, in particular, Amanda, she was my morning nurse every day. And she got to the point where she would say "I'm coming in tomorrow. Do you need me to bring you anything?"
