This team goes above and beyond daily to work closely with our Clinical staff at Glens Falls Hospital to meet the needs of our patient and clinician populations. They exemplify patient-first mentality and work collaboratively with our hospital peers to provide best-practice, evidence-based care.
We are in the unique position in ITWx to be on-site at our local community hospital. Many of us were born at this hospital, spend our nursing career/clinicals at this hospital, and are current consumers of care at this hospital. We, collectively, believe in, and support the mission of our hospital: "Our Mission is to improve the health of people in our region by providing access to exceptional, affordable, and patient-centered care every day and in every setting." This team is passionate about the work they accomplish, and the value it brings to the hospital, the clinicians, the patients, and to Cerner.
This team is on the forefront of responsiveness to the every-changing needs of the hospital. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the team worked tirelessly to facilitate and prepare for the patient needs. Older, no-longer-used nursing units were re-purposed to prepare for the SURGE (being in upstate NY, we were quite unsure how this would play out, but most assuredly needed to be prepared). This required re-build in the Cerner millennium system, testing, and device deployment.
The GFH, Nursing Informatics practice council (which this team also sits on) made the decision to review and implement ECD standards for nursing history and assessment - this team brought that initiative to fruition - saving nursing time 23 minutes for every history on each patient. A win for all nurses and their patients.
GFH also recently acquired and merged a number of specialty practices and opened a large 2-story office space. The Cerner ITWx team was instrumental in the success of that opening. This brought an incredible amount of increased revenue to the hospital system and provided much needed care to our community. Our team assisted with each step of the process: fact finding, design, build, testing, implementation, and evaluation. They divided their resources to provide at-elbow support at the site for an entire month, and still continued with the everyday level of support our client has come to expect from us - by staggering shifts, working longer hours, and splitting their working locations.
This team works closely with associates at other ITWx sites to knowledge share, troubleshoot, and fact find. Some of this team has been instrumental in the role coach program and training. This team also works on a daily basis with AMS as they troubleshoot tickets, push through changes (updating work plans, getting client validation, clarifying build asks- participating in the change process), review packages and performance activity opportunities to assist our client in the best way possible. They also work with Cerner Works to maintain domain stability and access.
This team contributes to ongoing work efforts with each of our solutions to provide the best experience possible for end-users and consumers. This involves reviewing model and collaborating with peers to recommend the best practice, meeting with the hospital Clinical Informaticist community to discern the needs and concerns of our staff using the system, participating in an internal vetting process to decide the best course of action and potential impact or proposed changes and implementing and communicating and evaluating the changes that are made. This team has developed a wonderful working relationship with the hospital personnel - they are respected and trusted for the knowledge and experience they have. Their work is thorough and complete, and client is pleased with the work.
There is an amazing amount of teamwork demonstrated by this team. They are always willing to help one another, to cover for each other, to share knowledge and to collaborate on issue resolution and solution. This team demonstrates unity and has a shared passion for the quality of the work we provide. Shannon, as team lead, has done an exemplary job of delegating and assisting to accomplish an amazing amount of work and project completion for such a small amount of team members. She is encouraging and helpful and embodies the qualities of nursing, leadership and Cerner. Her enthusiasm for her work is contagious and is likewise the essence of her team.
