One event does not begin to illustrate why Shani is a DAISY Nurse, but I will write a few. Fifteen minutes after I was transported I became impressed with Shani's heartfelt empathy for someone who was pretty ill at the time. She stuck with me through the rest of her shift, doing everything she could for patient care and confidence that everything was going to be all right. At another time, I observed Shani through the open door of my room as she interacted with crewmembers and patients. I saw the same empathy and determination that she would do all within her power to make sure that everything was going to be all right. Then there was the incident with my now mildly cognitively challenged husband who woke up around 4:00 am not recognizing where he was and insisting he have a shower. Shani helped him with that, and then he insisted that he be taken to the ER for Flu tests because of side effects from Tami Flu. Shani got permission to carry out this request, again proving that everything is going to be all right.
