Diane Eckert, RN, BSN was nominated for the DAISY Award by the family of a dying patient.
My brother, sister and I nominate Diane Eckert for a DAISY Award because of the extraordinary clinical skills and compassion she showed to our mother who spent her final days under Diane's care. Although the entire experience at UPMC Passavant was wonderful during such a sad and stressful time, Diane's total investment in my mother’s comfort and care is something we believe deserves commendation. Mom was moved to critical care with advanced lung disease, pneumonia, and diverticulitis. We wanted her to be kept comfortable and to recover. Diane treated not only my mother but our family through the process of her decline to her death, being proactive and professional in her clinical care of mom and her gentile and supportive emotional care of us. Diane became a member of our team in helping Mom to pass peacefully and even came to her funeral service with her husband. We will always be grateful for Diane's skills and compassion in helping my mother die comfortably and with dignity.
