Recently our father was in Paynesville Hospital and passed away. We are very fortunate to have a healthcare facility in our parent's hometown with quality staff. We were truly blessed to have had such an excellent care team to take care of our dad in his final days and meet the family's needs during this difficult time.
The nursing (RN, LPN, CNA) and social services staff were all remarkable. There truly are not enough words to express our heartfelt gratitude.
We would like to especially recognize Carol Symanietz. Carol came onto her shift and gave our mom a hug. Carol knew from personal experience how hard it is to lose a parent. She knew what our mom was feeling and that she needed a hug. Carol then laid out guidelines for our mom, explaining how she needed to take care of herself. She knew our mom was struggling and was having a hard time making basic decisions, such as if she should order a meal tray.
Carol quickly took those decisions off her mind and let her focus on what was important; spending time with her spouse in his final days and taking care of herself. You could see this is exactly what our mom needed. Our mom would not listen to her six sons, but she listened to Carol, and Carol knew she would. We saw a sense of relief from our mom when Carol commandeered the room.
Carol also knew the importance of contact between our mom and dad. A perfect example was when she positioned our dad so mom could rest next to her husband of almost 60 years.
Carol went above and beyond our expectations. We suspect Carol treats every patient and family with the same respect, kindness, and love that she showed to our family.
We are extremely thankful for the Paynesville care team and blessed to have Carol Symanietz take care of dad in his last days with us. Thank you, Carol.
