One staff member stood out beyond the rest. My siblings, our spouses, and I have not stopped thinking about her, and very honestly, we had no choice but to express our feelings in some form.
Kacie Kula is quite frankly one of the most unbelievable people we could have ever hoped to come across. On our Dad's last full day on earth, this wonderful woman showed not only the technical expertise to help him rest comfortably and pain-free, she literally doted on him. She cried with us when Dad would take a turn for the worse or when one of us was just overwhelmed by thinking about our temporary separation from Dad. She laughed with us and even told a story about my Dad's kindness and sense of humor that we will carry to our graves. She advised us on treatment that we should do and gave us truthful information that helped us to make decisions to carry out my Dad's wishes about his end of life. We only have known Kacie for days, but we truly love her and in our hearts and minds, she's part of our family now and forever.
If you know how to replicate what Kacie has that makes her so incredibly special, do it! I spent a career as a Vice President of Human Resources for a large retail company and I have never had an employee that rose to the level that Kacie did for Good Samaritan. If I was still working, I'd steal her away from Good Samaritan even if I had to multiply 10x her pay to get her. Be glad I'm retired!
I hope that you already know what you have in Kacie but if you don't, spend time to get to know her better. She is a shining example of love, compassion, hard work, technical competence, and commitment.
I'm not sure we can ever repay what Kacie did for our wonderful Dad and for those of us who cared for and loved him until his final breath.
