Mike is a delight to work with for so many reasons. He is always willing to assist anytime and anywhere on the unit if he is able to do so. He doesn't wait to be asked when he sees someone is busy, he just jumps right in and knows what needs to be done. Mike never makes a person feel stupid for asking questions as he is thoughtful and humble in his response, and will admit if he doesn't know the answer and then take the time to follow up with the correct one. He is truly a wealth of knowledge and readily shares that knowledge.
Mike is welcoming to new and old staff, making everyone feel comfortable. I admire Mike's energy and his go, go, go demeanor! Mike never seems to tire and won't rest until everything is done for his patients and families. He holds himself to the highest standards and doesn't stop until he meets them. Mike is a true team player: he is aware of what is going on around him and he isn't settled until his work is complete and his partner is caught up. He always thinks of what is in the best interest of his patients and gets to know them on a very personal level making every effort to understand their needs and perspective. He is very considerate in his demeanor and treats patients and families with genuine kindness and empathy. Because of the strong relationships he builds, he has the ability to put patients and families at ease even in the most stressful of situations.
Finally, I also admire Mike's ability to have thoughtful and professional discussions with the patient, their family and the medical staff to determine plan of care. He is strong advocate, and not afraid to speak his mind, but does so in a way that is engaging and disarming. Lastly, Mike is one of the reasons why I continue to enjoy working for 5SE!
