I think when anyone thinks of Andrea, they can easily come up with a story where she went above and beyond to display kindness.
Recently, we had an oncology patient with throat cancer and who was unable to swallow anything, including her own phlegm. She coughed this up into a tissue all day long. Because of the pandemic, the patient explained that she had not been able to find tissues at the stores and asked if she could take the rest of our box of tissues home. Andrea let the patient do this and then told the patient she had plenty at home and would bring them to her house. Andrea hand-delivered multiple boxes of tissues to this patient that same afternoon. The patient was very grateful.
What seems like such a simple act of kindness to her, is not something that everyone is willing to go the extra mile to do.
I would love for her to be recognized for the kindness she displays not just that day, but every day.
Note: This is Andrea's 2nd DAISY Award!
