Simply put, Peg is the person you want working with you. She’s there when you need help, when it’s a really busy shift, when you need a shoulder to cry on, another opinion for a complex patient, pretty much any question or problem, Peg’s the person you want to help. She sets the bar for what a Nursing Supervisor should be: compassionate, dedicated, patient and empathetic. When nurses hear she’s working, there’s often an “oh, thank goodness!” response.
Peg has established sincere, strong relationships with nurses throughout the hospital. She rounds multiple times through the shift, checking in with bedside and charge nurses frequently. Peg sends out dozens of handwritten thank you cards every week, both as her own recognition and paying forward recognition from other staff members. Her cards are thoughtfully composed and are an honor to receive.
Peg is called for the most difficult blood draws and IV starts. She sets the patient and family at ease immediately with her calm demeanor. Peg is the voice of education behind Magnet and Co-Practice. She regularly designs, distributes and reviews handouts to improve nurse education and empowerment.
I am honored to be in the circle of professionals that includes Peg.
