Judy is exactly the type of nurse that the Patrick Barnes family would have chosen to receive this award. Every interaction she has with patients, nursing and family comes from her heart, while being patient centered, evidence based, professional, collaborative and always with safety in mind. Judy has mentored and supported our nursing staff in the following areas: Clinical rounds participation, Steps to Excellence, Night Shift Wound care rounds-and then either work a whole shift before or after, been available, and came in to change wound vac drsgs., spearheaded the wound cart roll out, attends and teaches us all in Palliative Care rounds. Judy is so human with the patient’s she touches. She meets them right where they are at, does not judge and is a strong patient advocate. I can think of dozens of patients that she has advocated for in relationship to pain management, care coordination, wound management and teaching, comforting a patient that felt that he was not being heard; I could go on and on.

Please strongly consider Judy for this award. She is a role model! She is my role model for Excellence in Patient Care. She always puts the patient first, every minute, hour, shift she works. Her heart and knowledge base is vast; we need more nurses that care as much as Judy!
