My daughter was brought in due to head trauma, swelling, left eye closed, and extreme body aches and pains post a vehicular accident in which she was t-boned on the driver's side. She was afraid, disoriented, in extreme pain, and quite distrusting of medical professionals. Her demeanor was quite apathetic.
Shirley came into the room and things changed with her caring voice. She looked at my daughter and listened to her complaints, spoken and non-spoken, with her heart. She reassured my daughter she'd come to the right place and that the CGH staff were going to get her feeling better.
Shirley exemplified professionalism and pride in being a nurse and a caretaker. She made my daughter feel comfortable and that she mattered. She was eager to help her and on task with the medical dispensary. Shirley went above and beyond. Her compassion exhumed through her actions and she spoke with confidence to assure my daughter that she'd be alright. When she had to take my daughter to ED Observation, she gave a most thorough report and said: "Take care of this jewel!" No, Shirley is the jewel and should shine brightly!
