An excerpt from a nomination by a co-worker:



I had a patient who was in need of continuous bladder irrigation. I had it all set up, but the patient was still draining nothing but frank blood with clots. I called up to Urology to ask if someone could come down to make sure I had set everything up properly. Michelle came down and confirmed my set up, but also stayed around to tell us what all we would need throughout the night, and helped me with irrigation, etc. Michelle spent a great deal of time away from her floor helping me out. Much to my surprise, she came down several times to check on the patient and me. Her willingness to share her expertise and to offer herself as a resource througout the 12 hour shift was amazing. I thanked her several times, but it just didn't seem to be enough. Not many nurses would have taken the time initially, but then to continue to offer her time all night long, and to even be here right before shift change was way above and beyond the call. In every way she met the criteria required for the DAISY award, and I can think of no better way to recognize her dedication to nursing and patients.
