A patient wrote “I had surgery on 11/9/2011 and Melissa was so caring and treated my husband and me like we mattered! She was very kind and went over each detail before and after the surgery. When she found out I was hearing impaired, she made an extra effort to stand where I could see her and was patient with both of us. This was my first experience with Lake Pointe and everyone was excellent!”
Melissa started with LPMC in March of 2008. She has been a wonderful asset to the Day Surgery Department. She came to us from a surgical ICU background in Dallas after she had her daughter Noa. She wanted to be closer to her family and did not want to drive into Dallas any longer. The Day Surgery staff is very blessed to have her due to her high skill level. Melissa has a patient, caring and quiet demeanor. Her patients love her!
Melissa has progressed to serve as charge nurse as needed in the Day Surgery area. She serves on our Clinical Practice Committee and is in charge of ordering supplies for the unit. Melissa will work wherever she is needed such as pre-op surgery, radiology, endoscopy and ICU. She always has a smile and will help her co-workers without hesitation. She mentors new nurses in the area and acts as a resource as needed.
