Holmes Regional Medical Center recognizes and honors Heather Bess as one of our extraordinary nurses with the DAISY Award.
Heather was nominated by a patient in SICU who came in for emergency surgery and woke to the soothing presence of his nurse, Heather. The patient describes her as a special angel who made a tremendous difference in his recovery. The patient spent time in the ICUs and a regular hospital room and was touched by Heather throughout his stay. She was right by his side as his nurse and even came to check on him when he was moved off of her unit. The patient felt a calm come over him and he knew he would be okay because of the special nursing care provided by Heather. He told everyone “an angel” appeared in his room and would not leave his side.
We recognize Heather for showing true caring and compassion to the patient during his stay in SICU. The patient expressed how much Heather meant to him during his stay and will always mean to him and how much Heather’s compassionate care affected his recovery.
