I was privileged to have Beth Bell take care of my husband on two occasions over the past month. Beth took excellent care of him on both hospital stays in her two capacities as primary nurse and charge nurse. She was an absolute lifesaver. She is very fluent from a clinician standpoint on his disease and surgery. She communicated and enlightened us on his condition, his post-op plan of care, and even educated my family on how he would feel once we went home. My husband was nauseated his first stay from medication that was ordered. On the second stay, he was to receive the same medication, and Beth was on top of it with calling the doctor and having the medication changed. As his advocate, she alleviated my husband’s fear of post-op pain and nausea. Beth also demonstrated her sensitive side during his stay with active listening and interest in how our family was adapting to the recent surgeries and hospitalizations. Without reservation, I highly recommend Beth for this award. She is a vital asset to General Surgery and deserves this recognition. She is a DAISY Nurse if there ever was one!
