My husband was in a horrific car accident this summer. He lost a leg and several other injuries but no head trauma or internal injuries. Bonnie King was his nurse and she was amazing. After family and friends had left she asked if she could ask some health questions. I went back and we sat outside his room and we talked and I had 101 questions. She tried her best to answer then said, "you need to understand, most patients in accidents of this type do not do well, he is going to get through this and get back to his life, most people don't". She cried with me and I honestly don't know how I would have got through that night without her kind words. After a few nights with her, she asked if she could give me her number so I could update her on his progress. My husband's nickname is Turkey. A few days ago, Bonnie walked into his room in the Burn Unit to say "Hi". She had a card for him and said she went fishing on her day off and found a Turkey feather and thought of him. She put the feather in the card. My heart is so full when I think of this lady, she is beyond amazing!
