Jane came in the first day that I was admitted and absolutely blew me away. She was so busy and constantly on the go but always managed to make time for whatever I needed. She was full of compassion, kind words, and encouragement, everything I needed. She was never pushy, always helpful and so very kind. If the world had more people like her, it would be a much better place. I wanted to thank Jane from the bottom of my heart for making my time here a little warmer. I hope she never loses her compassion. Jane is truly one of a kind.

This past week my grandmother was CareFlighted to Mother Frances Hospital-Tyler. She had been sedated to have a breathing tube inserted and never regained consciousness. In addition, she was in multiple organ failures and unable to breathe on her own. Jane was the nurse assigned to her, and she was immediately front and center reviewing the situation and answering the questions we had. She was the perfect amount of compassionate and informational that we needed at that moment. When my mom asked if she could repeat the information for my uncle when he arrived, she immediately agreed (offering to stay past her shift). I don't have enough words to describe what a blessing and a comfort Jane was during this traumatic and upsetting situation.

I would like to nominate two nurses at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The wonderful work they performed and how they made me feel will never be forgotten. Jane was the preceptor. I had actually preceptor her myself on a different floor many years ago and knew her immediately when she came in the door. I could tell she was nervous and she eventually told me she was, but I reassured her what an amazing job she did.
Both nurses stayed on top of everything and I never worried about them as my nurses. Jane knew when to be a bulldog and get things done but also she was so very comforting to me and coached me through my breathing. She was my advocate. She was amazing about relaying information to the doctors and she never made you feel like you were not a priority for her even though I knew she had many other things to do. I had never been in a situation like I was in, but she would try and make me laugh or tell me stories that would help me get through the day. These two duos really fought for me and I pray for them every day. These two nurses deserve the DAISY Award and the all the recognition.
