The day I met Wes, my father had been moved from CSU to ICU. Wes greeted me, gave me all the updates, made sure I understood everything before he left me. Shortly after my father was moved back up to CSU we had Wes for the rest of the weekend. My father had had many hospital stays and as a Vietnam vet with PTSD and high anxiety I, as his caregiver, am always worried about leaving him for too long or for testing. Wes got my father through a CT scan without Xanax or any other anti-anxiety medicine. This has never happened before. I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for Wes enough because I could not get there in time. Wes went above and beyond to accompany my father, fully explain the procedure, calm him, empathize with me and allow me the freedom, as well as less guilt, for attending to my family's needs. I could not express what this has meant. I heard his fellow workers expressing how wonderful he is to work with and learn from. That his leadership and personality allow them to look forward to work, which is a rare thing not only in this day and age but in a hospital environment in general (because yes, we listen as family members to what nurses say about each other). He was always; pleasant, friendly, helpful and got answers to any questions we had. Our family cannot say enough good things about Wes and the care my father has received from him while he stayed.
