Jay sat down with us and explained what we would see after our son's surgery, all the possible lines, how he might look, and what will happen once he is out of surgery. He had such compassion in his voice, not wanting to scare us, but let us know. Then when he was working with our son, the way he said, "my friend" made us feel like he really cared for him. Even the times when Jay would come in in the middle of the night to check alarms, I knew I didn't have to worry because he said our son was okay or that he would be, we just needed to adjust something. Jay was calm, so we were calm. Lastly, Jay kept everyone straight for us. With lots of new doctors and nurses, it was hard to keep track of who said what, who we needed to talk to about different concerns, or what day something really happened because the days blurred together. We knew he was on our team and would fight for our son if needed. We knew Jay would be in our corner if needed.
