Recently I went to St. Luke's ED as a result of a slip in my bathtub and a head injury. I felt it was significant enough that a visit to the ED was required and something that would perhaps assure me that everything was okay.
My husband and I were treated very graciously. The staff realized how anxious I was and took excellent care of me. My anxiety resulted not only from the head injury but the thought that my two sisters both had brain aneurysms (one passed as a result). The physician ordered a CT scan, what a surprise! I had a small brain bleed. My blood pressure was quite high, and it took some time to get it lower. I was admitted and the nurses who handled the admission papers were beyond lovely and worked with me during the night to continue to monitor my BP, anxiety level and mental status.
One nurse stood out heads above all others. Jenna was frequently at my bedside checking on me and my needs, being a comfort and assuring me all was going to be okay. My twin sister showed up by 6:00 am to be with me. Jenna showed my sister great respect and compassion. During my stay, Jenna's knowledge of my condition, my anxiety and test results were explained to the two of us. That helped put things in perspective and not seem so scary, which was beyond invaluable. I thank you for having a very capable and charming nursing staff. I've been a patient at St. Luke's many times over many years. It is nice to know you still have wonderful nurses!
