I am nominating Tahni for a DAISY Award because she has shown me what it means to be an excellent nurse and patient advocate since we started working together. Most recently, Tahni had a patient who showed signs of decline. She worked to bring the rapid RN and the MD to the bedside and for the best plan of care for the patient. She kept a close eye on the patient and he stayed stable that day. The next day she ran a rapid response on the same patient. She stayed with the patient and provided him comfort while waiting for his transfer to a higher level of care. She also provided emotional support to the family who was upset over the patient's decline.
The next day when Tahni was off of work, she brought the patient and family flowers to show her support on his new floor. Sadly, I am not sure if the patient got better. This is just one example of the extra care that she takes with all of her patients. She does not publicize the nice, extra things she does, but I want her to know that they do not go unnoticed by other staff or her patients and their families. I have had countless times where I followed her at work with nothing but compliments on her care. She is also a great teammate and I look forward to working with her when I see her on the schedule.
