Diana German was recognized by the CICU Clinical Leader for outstanding care on a Cardiothoracic patient that the PACU regularly does not recover. Diana did a wonderful job of assessing the patient and keeping the surgeon informed of the status, as a brief stay in the PACU turned into hours. She was able to recognize compensated hypovolemic shock and determined when it was starting to become uncompensated, allowing us time to do some fluid resuscitation while we awaited the OR team to prepare for his re-exploration. Diana managed this complex patient very well and should be commended.
