Amy is an amazing nurse practitioner and continues to amaze us in all ways. When I first met Amy the first thing she said was that even though she is a Nurse Practioner, she "will always be a bedside nurse too". It was awesome to hear but even more awesome to see it in action. One day in the Urgent Care we had a patient who was writhing in pain and our staff was concerned she was dissecting or having some other emergent pulmonary/cardiac event. She was on the floor pale, diaphoretic and semi-conscious. Our MD called for help and as the only nurse on, Amy jumped in and helped place two large pore IVs and then began assisting with EKGs, VS, and O2 while the emergent paperwork was being done and 911 was being called. Her complete care would not have been possible without Amy jumping in and taking action. She is always caring and willing to help out when it comes to nursing skills.
Amy is constantly looking for ways to help the community and uses the resources we have with the clinic for patients all the time. Amy is an FNP and has in the past seen three to four patients at a time in order to keep a family who needs to be seen. This not only helps the family stay longer at a unit but also raises patient satisfaction as well.
