We recently had our donor wall ceremony, Lori was working at the registration desk, an elderly woman came up and asked where the restrooms were and Lori escorted her. Lori then told me about the woman she had helped and the story of why she was there. Her grandson was a donor 14 years ago at the age of 16. I am sure it was like yesterday for her and she was happy to tell the story again, but not without tears. It just so happened, Lori and I were standing by the restroom when the woman came out, spotted Lori, latched onto her again and Lori helped her back to where her family was gathered. At the end of the program I was sitting behind the registration desk where this same woman was walking toward waving at Lori, she wanted to give her a hug goodbye. That was a moment for me, to watch this grandmother seek out the person who was kind to her, listened and was caring to give her a hug and a thank you. Lori was able to give her a Donate Life Flag which you could tell by the expression on her face she was so grateful.
This is not the first time Lori has gone above and beyond for patients. She is a wonderful person and nurse.
