When I graduated nursing school, I had three specific goals in mind. I wanted to hold hands, touch hearts, and change lives. Cheyanne is early on in her career, and has already reached each of these goals and inspires me personally and professionally. At the end of a devastatingly short battle with a glioblastoma, my grandma found herself in the capable hands of Cheyanne and the entire Neuro ICU team. Cheyanne held my grandmas hands, comforting her throughout her final evening here on earth. She touched the hearts of each child and grandchild, all in a different stage of grief with unique coping mechanisms and reassuring each family member that she would do all she could to help in any way. She changed my life. She exemplified nursing excellence and compassion by reminding each and every one of her coworkers, that a nurse's clinical expertise can save a life, his or her humanity, empathy, and respect by delivering care to patients and their families, which impacted so many all at once.
