I am nominating Stacy Little for the DAISY Award due to the way she establishes special connections with the patients as well as her peers. One night, Stacy was placed on call and then called in later; before coming in she called to see if any of her coworkers wanted her to pick up food. While talking to her, I asked if she knew if we kept a deck of playing cards on the floor because I had an anxious patient that was asking for a deck of cards. Stacy not only picked up a deck of cards, she also paid for them without any expectation of being reimbursed. Stacy delivered the cards to the patient and took time to talk with him, which immediately had a calming effect. There have been several occasions where Stacy has rushed to other floors to help by placing IV’s for patients that had veins that were not easy to access. She has placed patients in the CPM machine, set up weights, and set up PCA machines. It is comforting to know that we all have the benefit of such a valuable resource.
