Day in and day out, Melissa Murphey exemplifies what it means to be an amazing nurse. As charge nurse of the OR, she is always in constant forward motion, keeping everyone informed. Communication is a top priority in the OR and Murph (as we call her) does an excellent job of making sure all parties are kept aware of what's going on, from the surgeons and the anesthesiologists to the staff and most importantly the patients. No matter who she's speaking with, its always with a smile and a calm voice. She's reassuring in every situation.
In addition to all the responsibilities that come with being in charge of the OR, Murph goes above and beyond on a daily basis, and she doesn't do it by sitting behind a desk all day. Murph is calm and collected. Always able to adapt to any situation-never losing her cool, never yelling and always with a smile and kind demeanor. One of the best things about Murph is her availability. She is always more than willing to stay late, help out, jump in, teach, answer any and all questions-even if it's 3 in the morning.
Melissa Murphey gives 100% day in and day out to every member of the team, and most importantly, to every patient, every time. She not only leads the team, she is a huge part of it-the glue that holds it all together.
