My mother will turn 90 in August and her health is failing. Most often she needs help with everything from eating to toileting. This is such an embarrassing time for mother. Cheryl comes in the room as a ray of sunshine! She's cheerful and sets the tone for the room visit with the affirmation of caring, willingness to help and creating comfort in the environment as she attends to Mom. She is positive in her interactions with visitors as well. I recognize, to the degree that I can, having never been in health care, what a challenging job nursing is. To enter each room as if her main goal is to care for this one person is a gift. Cheryl appears to have a servant's heart and there is nothing that impresses me more! I hope she continues nursing for many years. The sick and ailing patients will be comforted by her healing touch through her efforts in care and her emotional support that is vital to a patient's recovery. As I go to work, I'm comforted by knowing my mom is cared for by such a compassionate soul. Kindness cures!
