Upon volunteer rounding the patient in room 102 told the volunteer that Shawen was a great nurse. They stated that she was timely and caring, and had a good attitude when caring for them. They said she was a joy to have as their nurse. ~Volunteers
When doing leadership rounding, I spoke with the patient in 112 and the family. They wanted to recognize Shawen for her excellent patient care. They said they had many good staff, but she was above and beyond. She followed up and explained things well to them. She got them whatever they needed and was very attentive. They said they knew that she was very busy, but took care of them like she was not that busy. They couldn’t believe that caliber of nurses at Memorial and she was one of those most excellent nurses. ~Stacy Bales, Nurse Manager on behalf of patient and family
Several patients have reported that she is a caring nurse and that she follows up with their needs. She also incorporates humor into her patients’ care. When rounding, families will also say what nurses go above and beyond and her name comes up often. She will spend extra time with patients if needed no matter who the patient is. She not only is caring with her patients, but other staff as well.
Patients have said: “She is very kindhearted and checks on us often;” “She is a caring, fun nurse;” “She comes back when she says she will.” Staff has said: “She makes us laugh during the day;” “She is willing to help others when needed;” “She always has a smile on her face.” As manager, I have seen her be timely at work, dependable at work and to her patients. She is a team player and has a good, professional attitude. The patients and families love her happy, caring, energetic attitude that she displays and it is a joy to work with her. ~Stacy Bales, Nurse Manager
